About chimney leak diagnosis & repair in Dallas
Water in a fireplace or a stain near the chimney does not identify the failed part by itself. A crown, roof junction, masonry joint or chase cover may be involved. The purpose of a leak assessment is to distinguish those entry paths before you pay for a repair.
Tell us when the water appears, which surface gets wet first and whether any roof work or previous patching was done. Safe photos and existing invoices help explain the history; do not climb onto the roof to reproduce a leak yourself.
The written recommendation should name the defect and link the proposed work to it. Component services have their own pages for crown, flashing, masonry, chase-cover and waterproofing decisions. If more than one component needs work, ask for separate findings and prices rather than an unexplained all-purpose coating.

Chimney Leak Diagnosis & Repair questions
Still unsure? Call (214) 000-0000 and ask a real person.
Is the chimney or the roof causing the leak?
The indoor stain alone is not enough to tell. The assessment should consider the roof junction as well as the crown, masonry and chimney top, then document the evidence for the proposed repair.
Should I waterproof a leaking chimney first?
Not before the source is understood. A masonry water repellent does not replace missing mortar, a broken crown, failed flashing or a rusted cover. Repair identified defects first.
Can one chimney have multiple leak sources?
Yes. A damaged top and a roof-junction defect can coexist. The scope should distinguish the findings so each repair has a clear purpose.
What should I send before a leak appointment?
Send safe photos of the stain and fireplace, explain which weather brings it on and share details of recent roof or chimney work. Do not access the roof or dismantle parts to gather information.
How is leak repair priced?
The failed component, extent of damage and access determine the work. Diagnosis and component repairs should be clear in the estimate, with any concealed damage handled as an explained additional finding.
