About chimney cap installation in Dallas
A chimney cap sits above the flue opening. Its job is different from a masonry crown or the metal chase cover over a framed enclosure. If you are unsure which part has failed, send a safe ground-level photo and describe the symptom before ordering a replacement.
The proposed cap must fit the chimney and preserve the venting arrangement. A loose screen, missing fastener and badly deteriorated metal are different conditions; an assessment should explain whether adjustment, repair or replacement is appropriate.
For a framed chimney with a rusted metal top, see the dedicated chase cover replacement page. If water enters at the roof or through masonry, start with leak diagnosis. A cap is useful protection for an opening, but it does not repair every cause of water entry.

Chimney Cap Installation questions
Still unsure? Call (214) 000-0000 and ask a real person.
How is a cap different from a crown or chase cover?
A cap protects the flue opening, a crown forms the masonry top of a brick chimney, and a chase cover closes the top of a framed enclosure. They protect different components and need separate assessment.
Will a new cap stop every chimney leak?
No. A damaged crown, failed flashing or deteriorated masonry can still admit water. Identify the entry point before treating the cap as the complete solution.
Can you install a cap while animals are inside?
The flue must be confirmed clear before it is capped. Report noises or visible nesting material first so safe and lawful assessment can be arranged.
Can an existing chimney cap be repaired?
A fitting or screen issue may be repairable when the cap itself is sound. Extensive deterioration or an unsuitable fit may call for replacement. Ask the professional to explain the finding.
What affects cap installation cost?
The opening, number of flues, material, installation configuration and roof access affect the scope. A custom chase cover is a separate item, even if it is discussed during the same visit.
